FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Why would a small business owner want to hire a business coach?
A: Every great star, whether in sports or business surrounds themselves with great coaches and advisors. Many small business owners find it difficult to get an objective perspective on their business challenges. Although they might have one or more trusted advisers, those advisers might have a specific kind of expertise, for example, legal or financial. Those advisors may have a vested interest in certain kinds of outcomes.
Some business owners realize that the challenges they face as their company grows are about upgrading their own capabilities. Good coaches help their clients build on their strengths and remedy their weaknesses, help train staff, help design marketing plans to implement, and hold the business owner accountable. Great coaches will make you focus on your game, make you run more laps than you feel like and tell it like it is. You'll get good pointers and your coach assists you make your dreams come true.
Q: How does a business coach differ from a traditional consultant?
A: A coach provides more general support and helps a business owner consider alternatives, focus, and plan. A Business Coach partners with you to support your goals and, when those are reached, to help you stretch to the next level. A traditional business consultant may offer expert advice based on familiarity with a specific kind of business challenge or learning the fundamentals of business, start-ups, marketing strategies, management and team development. Deborah's work is a combination of these approaches, Business Coaching & Consulting. Our clients learn to increase profits, decrease expenses, minimize frustration, and deepen satisfaction by being in business.
Q: How long does a coach typically work with a business owner, and how much does it cost?
A: I'd say that most coaching engagements last between three and twelve months, although they may get extended or restarted.
We start with the consultative business analysis consultation, which can last 2 to 3 hours. In this invested time, we learn as much as we can about your business, your goals, your challenges, your sales, marketing, finances and more. This way we know exactly where your business is now, clarify your goals both in business and personally, and to get the crucial pieces of information we need to create your business action plan for the next 12 months. This is a step-by-step plan of action you will work through as you continue with our mentoring program.
The initial investment for the consultative business analysis depends on the size of your business and typically runs $395 - $595 for most small businesses. You will invest from $495 (group) to $995 (individually) a month for one year mentoring. Deborah will dedicate a minimum of 2 to 4 hours a month by telephone, with email updates, homework assignments and questions from you, not to equal a hour call to work with you on your sales marketing, team building, business development, and every step of your action plan you created from your consultation. There are several 3 - 6 month programs that are designed for specialized trainings: Building your Foundation, Steps to a Better Business, Sales Made Simple, Developing and keeping teams, and Product Development.
You will create great results in your business AND end up with an entrepreneurial education second to none and the knowledge that you can repeat your success over and over again .
You may also be asked to read several books to assist in your training and they will add to your investment as you go. HAVING a COACH is just like having a marketing manager, sales, team leader, a trainer, a recruitment specialist, and corporate consultant all for HALF the price of a secretary.

Q: What should a business owner expect to gain from the coaching process?
A: Your coach works with you for a full 12 months to make your goals a reality. Monthly or bimonthly coaching calls and goal-setting sessions, to creating marketing pieces, you will develop new sales strategies and business systems to work less and learn all that you need to know to make your dreams come true.
The action plan specifies what the client wants to achieve in these areas, and how progress will be measured. Coaches can also help clients gain insight about blind spots in decision-making or counterproductive tendencies. Your coach will be with you when you need her most, giving pointers, when you need someone to talk to, when you are faced with challenges and when your are just not sure what to do next. Your coach is there for you each step of the way.
The flexibility of coaching and the coaching process allow the coach and the client to work together to ask new questions and then explore them together.
Q. Why 12 months?
A . Over the 12 months, you will work on different areas of your business and monthy month you will not only see your goals become a reality, you will gain both the confidence and the knowledge to make it happen again and again .
If you have been in business more than a few weeks, you know about quick fixes. A coach is not going to do it for you. She will do it with you, showing you how to do it, working alongside you and creating the success together.
Q. Are you sure this will work in my business?
A. Your coach is an expert in different areas of business and has access to many different profit-building strategies. You are the expert in your business and together we can apply the strategies and systems to make your business win. Add this to the fact that your coach has worked with, managed, worked in and owns a business.
Q: Does a business coach work exclusively with the CEO, or with the entire staff?
A: It depends. Coaches often start working with a business owner, and then also work with the rest of the organization, ensuring that the changes that the leader is making are accompanied by corresponding and complementary changes in the rest of the organization.
The role of the Business Coach is to coach business owners to improve their business through guidance, support, and encouragement. They help the owners of small- and medium-sized businesses with their sales, marketing, management, team building, and so much more. Just like a sporting coach, your Business Coach will make you focus on YOUR game.
The owners of small- to medium-sized businesses find it hard enough to keep pace with all the changes and innovations going on in today's modern world, let alone to find the time to devote to sales, marketing, systems, planning, and team management, and then to run their businesses as well!
